GIFs have been around since 1987, but they are still incredibly popular. In fact, more and more businesses are using them. What are GIFs?
GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. Essentially, a GIF is a series of images that repeat on an endless loop.
Making a GIF is quite easy. For example, you can combine a series of still images to create an animated sequence. Or you can convert existing video footage. Here are a number of tools to produce and use GIFs.
Creating a GIF from a video
Ever watched a cute cat video online and thought, “Hey, that would make a really good GIF!” If so, then you need Giphy. Simply upload your video or select a YouTube URL, select the starting point and running time, add an optional caption... and you're done!
Creating a GIF with images in sequence
Already have the images you want to use? With GIF maker, all you need to do is click on “Upload images”. In the Control Panel you can now adjust their size, set the animation speed, and then download the final GIF. Easy peasy!
Uploading a GIF in our tool works in the same way as adding normal images. Just remember that the maximum image size is 2MB! From there, it is simply a matter of dropping your GIFs into your content.
No time to put together your own GIFs? No problem: there are plenty of ways to find animated sequences online to match your content. For example, Giphy offers a useful search engine – simply enter the topic(s) you are looking for. And 9GAG also has GIF-finder function.
