Even though introduced back in 1987, GIFs are still incredibly popular. In fact, more and more businesses are starting to use them.
With attention spans getting shorter, people spend only a few seconds on a page before moving on to the next. GIFs are a great way to catch the eye of your readers and deliver a message effectively instantly.

What are GIFs?
GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format. In essence, a GIF is a series of images that repeat on an endless loop.
To create a GIF, you can combine a series of still images to build an animated sequence or you can use existing video footage.
Creating a GIF from a video
Have you ever watched a video online and thought, “Wow, that would make a really good GIF”? If yes, then you need Giphy. Upload your video or select a YouTube URL, select the starting point and running time, add an optional caption... and you're done!
Creating a GIF with images in sequence
Do you already have the images you want to use? With tools like GIF maker, you can upload your images, adjust the size and animation speed and create your own GIF within seconds.
Uploading a GIF to Foleon is the same as uploading images.
Important note: make sure that your image size is a maximum of 2MB
If you’re looking for readily available animated sequences to make your own GIFs you could use tools like Giphy or 9GAG.
Giphy has a great search engine where you can simply enter the topic(s) you are looking for.
9GAG has the GIF-finder function with similar functionality.
