Roughly 3 years after introducing the Drag & Drop editor, we’re sunsetting its predecessor the classic editor. In this article, you’ll find more information about what’s changing when.

In this article:

  • What’s changing
  • Why we’re doing this
  • Steps you should take

It will happen in 2 phases, firstly the classic dashboard will be sunsetted followed by the classic editor:

  • April 2021: The classic dashboard is sunsetted.
  • July 2021: The classic editor is sunsetted.

What’s changing

From April 2021, you’ll no longer have access to the classic dashboard ( From this point, you can still edit existing classic publications but can no longer create new ones from scratch (you can still duplicate existing ones).

From July 2021, the classic editor will no longer be accessible. This means you’ll no longer be able to create, edit, or duplicate classic publications, view their analytics, compress them for self-hosting, or convert them to a PDF file. You’ll still be able to take them offline.

Please note that we will not take any of your classic publications offline, they will remain online unless you decide to take them offline yourself.

After the classic editor has been sunsetted, you’ll only be able to create content with our Drag & Drop editor that was introduced in 2018 and is faster, offers more creative freedom, and is constantly updated.

Why we’re doing this

Over the years, we’ve invested heavily in our platform to address the growing needs of our customers. Now, as we look to the future, we need to make hard decisions to ensure continued platform growth and effective customer service.

Steps you should take

This only affects customers that have access to the classic editor. You can check if you have access by going to the dashboard and seeing if your publications that were created with the Drag & Drop editor have a “Drag & Drop” label:

If your Drag & Drop publications have the label, it means you have access to the classic editor. In that case, we advise you to take the following steps:

  1. Browse through your projects to see if you have any publications that were created with the classic editor (publications without the Drag & Drop label).
  2. If you have any, review what you want to do with them. If you want to be able to edit them after July 2021, you should migrate them to the Drag & Drop editor beforehand.
